DESCRIPTION

TEV Pure Electric Transport Mini Truck

The TEV is built for the part of the day that never appears in a brochure: moving goods across a city on a fixed route, five days a week, in a vehicle that spends most of its life stopped at kerbside. It is a cab-and-chassis electric truck with a 650 kg payload and nine interchangeable cargo bodies, and every design decision on it points at running it rather than looking at it.

The economics are the reason it exists. Against a diesel micro-van covering 30,000 km a year, the published comparison puts the TEV at roughly USD 550 of energy and maintenance against USD 2,832 to 3,776, and 10 kWh per 100 km against 6-8 litres. That gap is not a marginal saving that depends on the electricity tariff being generous; it is large enough to change what a delivery operation looks like over a vehicle replacement cycle.

It is also genuinely different to drive in a city. There is no exhaust, so it can run inside loading yards, covered markets and pedestrianised areas that combustion vehicles are excluded from, and the low-speed 65 km/h version sits at or below the classification threshold in many markets. Regenerative braking recovers energy on every stop, and a 3690 mm turning radius with a 1310-1300 mm track keeps it workable on streets designed for much smaller vehicles.

Nine cargo bodies, two speed versions, and a running cost that changes the arithmetic on every delivery route.

01

Pick the body for the actual work

A cargo truck is bought for one job, and the difference between a pickup and a refrigerated box body is not a trim option. It is whether the load survives the journey. Open flatbeds, tippers, box trucks, flatbeds with low rails, stake bodies, extended cabs, refrigerated boxes, sweepers and waste compactors are all available on the same cab and chassis.

That matters most where a single vehicle covers more than one task. A facilities operator may run a tipper for morning grounds work and a box body for afternoon deliveries, and buying two vehicles to do it doubles the capital, the charging provision and the workshop footprint. The TEV lets one vehicle switch between them, or lets a fleet standardise on one body while mixing speeds between routes.

02

Two speeds, and why the choice matters

The low-speed version runs at 65 km/h on a 20.6 kWh pack for 240-270 km of range, and recharges in 4 to 6.5 hours. The high-speed version runs at 80 km/h on a larger 27.2 kWh pack for 200-250 km, taking 6.5 to 10 hours to charge.

The choice is usually a regulatory one rather than a preference. At 65 km/h, the vehicle sits at or below the speed threshold used by many city light-commercial classifications, which keeps it out of higher permit and emissions classes. Where inter-city links or faster suburban routes dominate, the high-speed version is worth the extra capacity and the longer charge.

03

The running-cost arithmetic

Using the published comparison at 30,000 km a year: electricity at an average of USD 0.15 per kWh, 10 kWh per 100 km and 3,000 kWh consumed annually, plus around USD 100 of maintenance, gives a total of roughly USD 550 a year. The diesel micro-van on the same mileage consumes 1,800-2,400 litres at USD 1.0 per litre, with USD 600-800 of maintenance, for a total of USD 2,832 to 3,776.

The figures are directional rather than universal, because electricity and diesel prices differ by market and the duty cycle changes consumption. But the shape of the comparison holds: the electric side is dominated by the electricity tariff, while the combustion side carries both fuel cost and a maintenance line several times larger. For a vehicle expected to work daily over several years, that is the number the purchase decision should start from.

Key Features

What sets the TEV apart

01

Nine cargo body configurations

Pickup, tipper, box truck, flatbed, stake body, double cab, refrigerated box, street sweeper and waste collector on the same cab and chassis.

02

650 kg standard payload

A 650 kg load capacity across the configuration range, with aluminium hopper and carriage options that reduce kerb weight.

03

Two speed versions

Low speed at 65 km/h with 240-270 km range, or high speed at 80 km/h with 200-250 km, to suit city classification or inter-city routes.

04

Regenerative braking

An energy recovery system converts kinetic energy to electrical energy during deceleration, extending range and reducing brake wear.

05

Left or right hand drive

Both drive-hand configurations are available, covering markets on either side of the road.

06

Home and AC pile charging

Charging by home unit or AC charging pile, with 4-6.5 h on the low-speed pack and 6.5-10 h on the high-speed pack.

07

ABS and EPS as standard

ABS braking for stable performance under load and EPS steering for smoother operation and better direction recovery.

08

Three-layer anti-rust frame

Electrophoretic, intermediate and topcoat paint layers give frame protection and a durable finish.

09

Visibility and security package

Reverse camera, digital rearview mirror, electrically adjusted mirrors and central locking are available on the cab.
