Selling vehicles under your own brand gives you control of pricing, positioning, and customer relationships. The process is straightforward once the scope is defined — but each branding element carries its own cost, lead time, and minimum order quantity.
Decide the depth of customisation
OEM projects range from light cosmetic changes to full platform adaptation. Being explicit about the level you need prevents mismatched expectations and surprises at the quotation stage.
- Light: exterior decals, badges, and colour selection.
- Medium: custom colours, seats, steering-wheel trim, and instrument panel graphics.
- Full: bespoke bodywork, revised control layouts, and market-specific electrical systems.
Prepare your brand assets
Supply vector artwork (SVG, AI, or EPS) for logos and any graphics that will be printed or moulded. Low-resolution files cannot be scaled cleanly, and a reworked logo means a reworked mould or print plate. Confirm exact colour references using established colour codes so that paint and print match your brand standards.
Think about the customer-facing details
Branding extends beyond the vehicle body. Consider the owner’s manual, warranty card, packing labels, and even the key fob. These small items reinforce a professional impression and are inexpensive to customise when planned together with the vehicle.
Understand the quantity implications
Custom moulded parts, printed manuals, and dedicated packaging usually carry a minimum order quantity because suppliers must set up tooling and print runs. Aligning your branding scope with realistic volumes keeps unit costs sensible. If you are testing a market, start with light customisation and expand as demand proves out.
Agree the approval process
Request a pre-production sample or a detailed proof of every branded element before mass production. A clear sign-off step protects both sides and avoids rework. Confirm who approves, in what format, and by when.
With assets, scope, and approvals agreed up front, OEM production runs smoothly and your brand arrives on the vehicle exactly as designed.
